Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.
Psalm 147:5
“Does God know everything?” This question has crossed our minds at some point in our lives. The answer is; “Yes. He knows everything.” God knows everything about us.
God is omniscient. Meaning God has superior knowledge and wisdom. God knows everything there is to know about the past, present, and get this, the future. He knows all of our ways. He even knows what we’re going to say before we say it. In fact, He knows our thoughts. Time and distance isn’t a barrier to God like it is to us.
When no one else is watching and listening, God is.
David wrote a Psalm that describes God’s perfect knowledge of man:
O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue,
Psalm 139:6
But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.
This passage gives us an idea of how infinite God’s knowledge is. He knows our thoughts from a distance, He is acquainted with all of our ways, He knows the words we will speak. For God to know everything is a good thing. He intends it to be for our benefit, and we should be in awe that He does. Nothing is held secret from Him. When no one else is watching and listening, God is.
