“He must increase, but I must decrease”.
-John 3:30
This is one of my favorite passages. It is a short one but if we live our lives by it, it will take us a long way in our journey to heaven. When we settle into the fact that Jesus should be first and foremost in our lives, and when we allow His personality to override our sinful personality, we will begin to experience the glory of God and His kingdom in our lives.
Jesus’ Personality
- He always speaks the truth.
- He gives more than He asks for.
- He values people more than Himself.
- He is humble.
- He is compassionate.
- He forgives.
- He is patient.
- He is kind.
Compare Yourself To This List
Galatians 5:22-23 gives us a list known as the “Fruit of The Spirit” we can compare ourselves to such as Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Christ must increase in every area of our lives. We have to decrease to allow this to happen.
Beloved Father in heaven. Help us to have a desire to decrease ourselves so that your Son Jesus can increase in our lives. We are much better off when this takes place and we will be well on our way to spend eternity with you. In the name of Jesus I pray – Amen.
