Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. – Hebrews 13:15
I remember hearing a paraphrased portion of this verse quoted years ago; “Bless the Lord with the fruit of your lips.” I asked myself this question; “How can I bless the Lord who already owns everything? What can I give Him that He doesn’t already have?” I’m sure I wasn’t the only one asking this question. The question came stronger when I thought about the Lord owning cattle on a thousand hills. (Psalm 50:10)
I often think about how the Lord has blessed me in the past. He blessed me when I didn’t deserve it. He has blessed me and was always on time. He healed me when I was sick and delivered me when I was bound with sin. He is my mighty God, my Prince of Peace. I love Him.
God has really blessed me and I owe Him my praise!
In the midst of telling you some of the things He’s done for me, I blessed Him with the fruit of my lips. I offered a sacrifice of praise to the one who deserves all of my praise and more.
So now you know, if you didn’t know, how to bless a God who already owns everything!
Father, I thank you for everything you’ve done for other people and myself. I thank you for being full of mercy and grace, and kind toward us even when we didn’t deserve it. Thank you. In the name of your precious Son Jesus – Amen.
