Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”Matthew 9:35-38
Just like Jesus, we should be moved with compassion, we should care enough about the people who are lost and without hope to go out to them. Jesus knows there are some people who don’t know Him and they would be glad to know Him if they were told about Him. You’ve heard the quote:
“People don’t care about how much you know. They want to know how much you care.”Unknown
Jesus saw the people were scattered and weary so He met them at their need and ministered to them. He mentioned how the harvest was huge but more laborers were needed to bring in the harvest. The harvest is the people we see who are scattered and without hope right in our community. The laborers are us, Jesus’ disciples, who should be out there bringing the ones who are lost to Him to be saved.
Let’s go out into the harvest and tell people about repentance and salvation. Let’s let what God placed in us be of help to someone who is without hope. Let’s pray for more people to help us.
