By The Skin of My Teeth

We use a lot of cliches or one sentence phrases that impact others or simply get our point across better. A lot of these cliches can be found in the Bible. That’s right, in the Bible. I want to share some of them with you. Here’s the first one:

The skin of my teeth

The phrase skin of my teeth can be found in Job 19:20.

My bone clings to my skin and to my flesh,
And I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.

This phrase means “just barely”. Or by a “narrow margin”. So when you hear someone say; “I made it by the skin of my teeth” if they got home right before the storm started, or one of your friends rush in the classroom right before the teacher closes the door, know that this phrase came from the Bible.
