Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.Psalm 37:4
We had a blessed time in the Lord yesterday during worship service. Prayer, singing, testimonies and the word of God left us feeling full after we left the sanctuary. We heard a word from the Lord about delighting ourselves in Him and in return He shall give us the desires of our heart.
When we look at the word delight in the dictionary we will find this definition: “please (someone) greatly.” We will also find this definition in a bible dictionary or a Strongs concordance we will find this definition: “to be happy about, take exquisite delight.”
When we delight ourselves in something or someone, we put forth our best effort and give it everything we have toward the object of our delight. Many times we put forth a whole lot of effort into someone or something and wind up receiving less than what we gave.
But when we put forth our all, our hearts, our worship and our attention on God, we will always get back more than what we gave out because we’ll never beat our Lord giving. We all have special desires. It could be a desire for us or a family member being saved. It could be we’re desiring ourselves or someone else to be healed and delivered from sin. It could be something material we desire. Delight yourself in the Lord and He has promised you He will give you the desires of your heart, all that is in His will.
