16 And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” 18 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
19 When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets. 20 And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him.
– Mark 1:16–20.
When Jesus called Simon (Peter) and Andrew, they worked as fishermen. He called them and they went with them, immediately.
Jesus saw James, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother. They too were mending their nets. They were fishermen too. He called them they immediately followed Jesus.
Jesus is still calling people today. There are some people who have been with Jesus since the day He called them. There are some who left Him after He called them, but returned. There are others who left and never returned, and there are some who refused to answer the call.
Which one are you?
Father, I pray for those who answered your call and have decided to endure to the end. I pray you will strengthen them. I pray for those who have been lured by the deceitful gratifications of this world and walked away after they were called. And I pray for those who refused your call. I pray all of us would come to repentance and have a made-up mind to follow you all the way! – Amen.
