Today’s bible reading in our Weekly Study Guide was in Mark 4:34-51. My thoughts centered on the storms we have faced and will face in our journey through this world. Jesus and His disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee when they encountered a storm. The boat they were in was about to sink as it filled with water.
Jesus was in the boat with them sleeping in the stern. His disciples were afraid and they said to Jesus; “Do you not care that we are perishing?” Jesus got up, rebuked the wind, and said; “Peace, be still.” Suddenly the wind stopped and the sea became calm. But Jesus asked them; “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
This natural storm they went through can be compared to the windstorms that blow in our lives. Some of us are facing, or have faced some difficult times. Like the boat crossing the Sea of Galilee, we can become overwhelmed by the results of the storm, and the *spirit of fear can set in. But we have someone riding with us on our journey who has the power to bring life’s storm under subjection. His name is Jesus. He has the power to help us complete our journey. All we have to do is do what His disciples did; go to Him, express our concerns and we will receive what we need. Don’t be afraid, have faith in Him, and keep going because He is with us!
I pray the Lord will direct you through your storms and bring you to a place of peace and calm in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
