Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.Matthew 11:28-30
Whew! So far this has been some kind of year. We have been challenged on every side and just in case you’re feeling weary, I want to let you know there is rest for you. There is a peace that’s beyond our understanding provided by God who can do exceedingly and abundantly above all we can ask or think.
All you have to do is listen and accept the invitation given by Jesus; “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden.” We have been weighed down with uncertainty, some of us have been sick this year. Some of us may have someone who transitioned. All of these things can weigh us down. But Jesus is beckoning us to come to Him and He will give us rest.
Then He wants us to take His yoke and learn from Him. A yoke is a device that was used to keep two ox together to do work in the field. The farmer would yoke an older ox to a younger ox so the older ox could train the younger. When we’re yoked to Jesus and His word, we learn His ways and develop into the likeness of Him. And when He teaches us, He is patient and gentle during the learning process.
So when these challenging days seem to be getting the best of you and you’re fighting weariness of spirit, take all of your cares to Jesus, pray and ask for what you need to make each day.
