From our Bible reading on November 22, 2022…
So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel; but they did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage. – Exodus 6:9
Moses had a job to do and his job was to make the announcement to the children of Israel and Pharoah that their bondage was coming to an end. You’d think the people would’ve been happy but some of them resisted Moses. The reason wasn’t that they didn’t want to be free. They had been in bondage for so long that the idea of going to a better life didn’t seem like it was a doable thing. They were crushed, discouraged, and disillusioned.
If someone rejects your witness of the freedom they can find in Jesus, don’t take it personally. Yes, there are some who won’t believe it no matter what. But I believe there are more who will listen to your witness and accept Jesus as their Savior than there are that won’t.
Reasons For Rejection
- Some people have had it so tough for so long that they just can’t see how someone they can’t see can deliver them and give them relief.
- Some people tried life with Jesus as their Savior but something happened that caused them to give up. Usually, it’s because they thought they would walk into new material things instead of new spiritual things.
- Some people have been hurt so deeply that they just can’t trust what you’re telling them.
These are just a few reasons why people reject our message of the gospel, I’m sure you can think of some other reasons too. If so, comment below. In the meantime, keep witnessing during these tough times even though times may cause rejection.
May God continue to bless you and your family.
